Regular collections
Residual waste (non-recyclable household waste) - black bin
Residual waste is collected every two weeks. Weekly collection is available on request (regularly or exceptionally) for a fee. The fee for residual waste is based on an emptying charge and a weight charge.
Organic waste (organic kitchen waste and grass clippings) - green bin
Organic waste is collected weekly from 15 March to 15 November and fortnightly from 16 November to 14 March. The charge for organic waste is based on weight.
Paper, cardboard and cardboard boxes - blue bin
Paper, cardboard and cardboard boxes are collected monthly. The fee for the collection of paper, cardboard and cardboard is a disposal charge.
Glass - yellow bin
Glass is collected monthly. The fee for glass collection is based on a waste disposal charge.
Plastic packaging - Valorlux blue bags
Some recyclable packaging is collected during Valorlux blue bag collections. The bags are collected free of charge every fortnight.
Collections on request
Tree and shrub waste
Free door-to-door collection is available on request, on a monthly basis and subject to certain conditions:
- in bundles (organic twine)
- maximum weight of 20 kg per bundle
- maximum length of 1.50 m per bundle
- maximum branch diameter of 10 cm.
Scrap metal and other metals, electrical and electronic appliances, PCs and TVs
Collection takes place monthly on request and must be notified at least 3 working days before the date scheduled on the ecological calendar.
Bulky waste (wooden furniture, mattresses, sofas, etc.)
Bulky waste, which due to its size is too large to be placed in the household waste containers, is collected on request once a month. Requests for collection must be made at least 3 working days before the date shown on the green calendar.
Clothing and footwear
Clothing and footwear are collected on request once a month. They must be placed in plastic bags.
Recycling centre
The recycling centre in Kehlen (28, Zone Industrielle L-8287 Kehlen) is open Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 12.00pm and from 1.00pm to 6.00pm, and on Saturdays from 8.00am to 3.30pm.
The following items can be handed in free of charge at the recycling centre:
- recyclable waste: packaging and plastics, paper, glass, cardboard, rubble, wood, scrap metal, old clothes, tiles, rubber products (except tyres), electronic and electrical appliances, grass cuttings and fallen leaves (<100l volume)
- items in good condition that you no longer need, such as books, records, CDs, video and audio cassettes, toys, school supplies, glasses, cutlery, sports equipment, bicycles, musical instruments, board games, suitcases, small furniture, decorative items, gardening tools, etc. (at the Second Hand Shop)
- Hazardous and toxic waste, such as paints, acids, batteries, neon lights, spray cans, etc. (SuperDrecksKëscht)
There is a charge for handing in the following types of waste
- bulky waste (mattresses, sofas, carpets, etc.)
- tyres with or without rims

As part of the national waste management plan and the national plan for sustainable development, the SDK's mission is to ensure environmentally-friendly management that conserves energy resources and raw materials.
The waste accepted at the Recycling Centre is :
- waste oils, greases, fuels and emulsions
- batteries and accumulators
- chemical products
- data media and printing media
- paints, lacquers and printing paints
- pressurised gases, aerosol cans
- fluorescent tubes, lamps and products containing mercury
