Death

The declaration of death must be made to the local authority in the place of death within 24 hours of the death. We recommend that you instruct a funeral company to take care of the administrative formalities. If you wish to make the declaration yourself, please come to the Population Office with the following documents: 

• the medical certificate confirming the death
• if possible, an identity document of the deceased
• your identity document

Any questions relating to the burial can be discussed at the time of the declaration.
