The mayor's duties
The mayor is appointed by the Grand Duke among the members of the municipal council for a term of six years.
He has a wide range of responsibilities in terms of both general and local interests.
He chairs the college of aldermen and the municipal council, is responsible for enforcing police laws and regulations, performs the duties of registrar, signs the regulations and by-laws of the municipal council and the college of aldermen, publications, deeds and correspondence of the Commune and is authorised to authenticate signatures in accordance with the provisions of a grand-ducal regulation.
In the event of impediment or absence, he may, under his responsibility, delegate his powers to one of the aldermen.
