Functions of the municipal council

The municiapl council meets as often as required by the day-to-day business within its remit. It is convened by the college of aldermen and its meetings are chaired by the mayor.

Meetings of the municipal council are open to the public, subject to exceptions, in particular where personal matters are discussed.

While the municipal council deliberates on any matter submitted to it by a higher authority, its essential role is to regulate all matters of communal interest.
