Luxembourgish identity card
Terms and conditions
The Luxembourgish identity card is mandatory for any person of Luxembourgish nationality habitually resident in Luxembourg and aged 15 or over.
For people living abroad or aged under 15, the identity card is optional.
Applications for registration should be made to the local authority of residence by bringing the old identity card (or, where applicable, a declaration of loss or theft issued by the Police Grand-Ducale) and proof of payment of the relevant chancery fee.
A photograph is no longer required.
To ensure that your request is processed correctly, please arrive at the Population office before 3:30 pm, with the debit proof of payment printed on paper.

Normal procedure
Delivery time: approximately 10 days, the exact date will be given at the time of application.

Fees
- 14€ for an identity card valid for 10 years (holder aged 15 and over)
- 10€ for an identity card valid for 5 years (holder aged between 4 and 15)
- 5€ for an identity card valid for 2 years (holder under 4 years old)

- 45€ (single rate for a validity of 2, 5 or 10 years)
Payment in advance for both procedures
This tax must be paid by the citizen before going to the municipal administration to the following CCPL account (indicating his first and last name in the box reserved for information on the transfer):
